About

These trails are technical and rooty with tons of diverse features from gap jumps, skinnies, concrete slab climbs, trail made of old railroad tracks (Poo Tracks), and more. Located adjacent to Park Road Park and tied together by the beautiful Little Sugar Creek greenway, the trail system often alternates between beautifully maintained and rough, handcrafted jank (intentionally).

Featuring 3 Main Loops - Front, Middle, Back Thirds - each with their own personality, you can tailor your ride style and length to the mood you're in:

Front Third

This is the easiest trail loop and is full of skinnies that are a ton of fun. Great to hop on to get your legs warmed up before hopping on some of the other loops/features.

Middle Third

This is the main and most popular loop of the trail system featuring the iconic Poo Tracks (trail made entirely of narrow concrete railways from the early 1900s). It’s miles of primitive singletrack blended with session-able jump lines with some good flow peppered here and there. The New and Old Jump Lines offer something for every skill level. The Old Jump Line featuring wooden shotgun jumps, tabletop rock jumps, and some mandatory gap jumps off to the side. The New Jump Line features table top jump lines, BMX-style kicker gap jump lines, and a bunch of other features.

Back Third

A rugged and technical gauntlet of natural rock, punchy climbs, and high-consequence maneuvers designed to test your bike handling skills.

Marion Diehl

The steepest and most primitive terrain on the property and focuses mostly on elevation.

Backyard Trails Montage

A quick montage of the trails out at the Backyard Trail system.

Farmbrook (Front Third)

Also known as the "Skinnies Loop," this two-mile directional trail operates as BYT's least challenging area. While it remains an engaging intermediate run, it features fun wooden berms, bridges, and manageable gap jumps, making it a great place to warm up your handling skills.

Middle Third

Serving as a massive portion of the park's total mileage, this highly-rated black diamond singletrack is technically demanding. The multi-use, one-way trail requires riders to navigate a relentless array of roots and natural obstacles, delivering a punishing but highly rewarding cross-country challenge.

Tech Loop

This two-mile black diamond route thoroughly lives up to its name by throwing constant technical features at riders. The aggressive singletrack forces cyclists to navigate steep rock faces, elevated wooden skinnies, harsh rock gardens, and sudden drops, demanding complete focus and excellent momentum control.

Nintendo

Built specifically to be completely accessible for kids, this short loop is incredibly smooth and easy. With almost no elevation gain or loss, the surface is gentle enough even for pushbikes, providing a safe and approachable environment for the youngest riders to practice dirt riding.

PlayStation

This brief, dedicated jump zone offers riders a progressive series of dirt kickers and flow options. The meticulously built jumps are spaced in quick succession, allowing cyclists to pump effectively through the line, naturally building speed and momentum without having to rely on heavy pedaling.

Mini Loop

Functioning as a very short but highly engaging multi-use path, this blue-rated directional singletrack provides a quick burst of intermediate flow. It is primarily utilized as a fast transit route or a brief add-on segment for riders looking to maximize their trail mileage in the woods.

Marion Diehl

Located across Tyvola Road from the main system, this three-mile segment is accessed via the greenway. It offers the steepest and most primitive terrain at Backyard Trails. Packed with punchy, rooty climbs and rugged natural features, this highly technical loop delivers a serious, sweat-inducing workout for experienced riders.
